Note: Due to the ongoing shutdown of New Orleans, Pardi-Gras has moved to Galveston for this year only. New dates are April 8-11. We hope to return to New Orleans in 2022.
What is Pardi-Gras?
Started in November, 1997, this annual event has been attracting revelers from around the country for a "trop-rock" party ever since. It was moved from November to January in the third year, and has remained there since. The year 2021 will mark the 24th annual rendition of Pardi-Gras. In 2010 and in 2012, and 2013, Pardi-Gras was voted "Trop Rock Event of the Year" by members of the Trop Rock Music Association.
Pardi-Gras is presented by Jerry & Mary Diaz, and the Pardi-Gras Krewe.
Pardi-Gras caters to a special group of people known as "Parrot Heads". That nickname refers to their love of singer/songwriter Jimmy Buffett's music, and lifestyle. The event is open to anyone, however, and roughly 1/3 of the attendees of Pardi-Gras have traditionally been folks who just like the tropical atmosphere and music that Pardi-Gras embodies. You don't have to be a member of any formal group to participate in Pardi-Gras.
Over the years, Pardi-Gras has evolved into a four day event. The party features plenty of live music, as well as other fun activities unique to the French Quarter. Browsing through pictures of previous years' events will give you a pretty clear picture of what Pardi-Gras is all about.
We invite you to join us this April, in Galveston, for Pardi-Gras 2021. Come find out why we call it, "The Ultimate French Quarter Party"!
